Volume 16 of Diplomatic Documents of Switzerland covers the period from May 1945 to May 1947 and attempts to provide a balanced view of the decisive period from the end of the Second World War until the first signs of the Cold War appear. The settlement of economic issues with the Allies (Washington Agreement), relations with the victorious Soviet Union and the attitude of the fledgling UN are among the main challenges facing Swiss diplomacy.
